On Monday I decide what the week is for. By Thursday I want to renegotiate all of it.
Thursday me is tired and has excellent arguments. She points out that the plan was made by someone who had slept and had not yet had three difficult conversations.
But Monday me was not naive. She was calm, she had the whole week in view, and she had nothing to defend. That is the version worth listening to.
So I write plans as instructions rather than intentions. Not work on the book, but ninety minutes on chapter four, before email. Instructions are harder to argue with.
You are allowed to change the plan. Just make Thursday you present a real case and not a mood.
